Salukis put up fight through double overtime Share
The Red Hill High School Varsity football team walked away from Friday's contest in Flora a little road weary from a double overtime ending in a 26-20 loss. Neither team scored in the first quarter. Flora's Cole Honeyman scored their first touchdown in the second quarter and Red Hill's Jordan Evans made a one-yard break to score in the third quarter with 5:10 on the clock. Trevor Albertson made the extra point kick. In the fourth quarter again, Red Hill made a short one-yard jaunt as Lucas Hahn scored the touchdown. Albertson made the kick good for the 14-6 score in favor of the Salukis. Flora answered back, evening up the score, with John Wallace's touchdown and a pass from Aaron Speegle from Trent Tackitt with 5:57 remaining in the quarter. Going into overtime, Flora's Honeyman scored. Red Hill rallied for Evans' 10-yard run to score and tie the game again.

Then, in the second overtime,Flora made the final score with Tackitt's 11-yard run. The Wolves bared their teeth as they doubled up on the Salukis in rushing yards (244-112). Red Hill used their passing game to make up the difference as the Salukis made 3 of 13 and the Wolves connected two of six. Evans led the Salukis in rushing yards with 48 in 16 attempts, making 12 of Red Hills points. Tony Theriac followed with 31 yards in five attempts. Eli Latch connected with Young for 19 yards, Conner Reed for 13 and Evans for seven. Defensively, Tyler Kidwell made eight solo attacks to protect the Salukis. Anders Ericksen grappled the Wolves with seven hits. Red Hill is now 1-3 on the season. The Salukis will be back on their home turf at 7 p.m., Friday, as they host Edwards County. Barbara E.
