Bridgeport Banking Center undergoes personnel changes Share
Personnel changes at the First Bridgeport Banking Center have caused some members of the community to question the business operations of the institution. Its parent company, the Fairfield National Bank, is reaching out to customers to assure them that recent changes have been ''unfortunate;'' but that it is a ''rock-solid financial institution.'' According to Larry Rost, President and CEO of FNB, the work load demands that administration evaluate hiring one or more new employees soon. Although he did not elaborate on the current staffing, two longtime employees, Rita Palmer and Jan Andrews, are no longer working at the Bridgeport institution. He did say that two full-time employees and one part-time employee are currently serving customers at the local bank. ''Misinformation'' that has been brought to Rost's attention, however, is a concern as he notified customers via a letter written on October 19 of the following: * Your deposits at First Bridgeport Banking Center are safe and secure. - FDIC Insurance covers accounts up to $250,000 in size.

- Our banking organization has $33,980,000 of capital to add additional protection. This is $2.60 for each $1 of Bridgeport deposit. - Systems are in place to detect any irregular money movements. *Your loan accounts at First Bridgeport Banking Center are safe and secure. - We will not lose your loan contracts. - We have capacity to fund new loan requests and happily accept applications. Rost reiterated that from a security aspect, the bank does not have an ''ounce of problem.'' He encourages customers to contact them at 618-842-2107 if there are concerns. He considers the recent activity as a ''rough patch'' that is ''just part of the evolution of us.'' Originally established in 1894, the local bank was charted in 1903. The Bridgeport bank was joined with Fairfield National Bank on May 13, 2005. ''Our intent is to be in Bridgeport and continue to be competitive.'' Barbara E. Allender is editor of the Bridgeport Leader.
