Award Winning Floral Designer Opens New ''Shoppe'' in Marshall  Share
When Maria Buskirk came to Marshall four years ago, she brought with her a wealth of expertise and creativity in the floral industry. In fact, Buskirk was recognized as one of California's top ten floral designers, as well as the state's third best in Christmas floral arrangements, before bringing her talents to Clark County--originally working with Petals & Perks in Casey. Picking up right where she left off in California, Buskirk was recently recognized as Illinois' top floral designer for weddings, and now she has realized her ultimate dream, opening up her own shop at 802 S. 10th in Marshall (the former location of A Bloom Above). Quaint and familial, Maria's ''Your Marshall Flower Shoppe'' offers everything from free coffee and tea to ornamental statues and award winning floral designs for every occasion. There is even going to be a private planning room for wedding and funeral arrangements, according to Buskirk, who said that ''People need a special room with more privacy'' for such important occasions. And although her shop is already open for business, Buskirk also indicated that there would be an official grand opening event once everything is completely ready. ''I love what I do,'' said Maria, ''and it's not just a place for weddings, funerals and other formal occasions. I'll be happy to wrap up a single rose for someone if that's what they want.''
