Neoga representatives attend meeting with Cumberland County Board Share
Neoga Mayor Wayne Modglin, Commissioner Tony Kepp and Police Chief Gerry Mattern joined their counterparts from Toledo and Greenup last Wednesday in a meeting with the Cumberland County Board. The topic was the County's proposal to charge the municipalities for dispatching police and 911 emergency responders. In the discussion, Modglin said he told the board the cities couldn't afford such a charge and urged the county to look to other options. ''The other mayors were right behind me on that,'' Modglin said. The county currently employs two dispatchers for daytime hours and one for nights. Modglin said he made the suggestion that the second dispatcher could be eliminated during the day as a way to save money. Neoga dispatches their own police during weekdays. No decision was announced at the meeting, and Modglin says he hopes that cooperation will allow the governmental bodies to work through this.
