CANTATA: Members of various churches draw together to present the Christmas Cantata as they did here in 2006.
Christmas activities continue in Neoga Share
As last week's News explained, the Children's Shopping Spree will be held Saturday, Dec. 5, beginning at 9 a.m. Volunteers will help children shop for items to give to family and friends and available to the little shoppers at a discounted rate ''within their gift-giving budget.'' The children can then home with gifts for everyone on their list all wrapped and ready to put under the tree. Cantata Other Christmas activities will be taking place soon, including the presentation of the community cantata at 7 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 12, and at 4 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 13. The performances are set once again at Grace United Methodist Church and open to the public. Kirby Davis, counselor at Neoga High School, is the director and choir members come from various churches in town. Refreshments and fellowship time will follow both programs. Open House First Mid-Illinois Bank & Trust will host their annual Christmas Open House on Friday, Dec. 11. Everyone is invited to stop by for refreshments and to sign up for door prizes.

Food Drive Neoga area Boy Scouts will distribute grocery bags door to door Saturday, Dec. 5. They will cover the area again on Dec. 12 to collect food donations to be used to fill Christmas baskets. Any who wants to can also deposit items under the Christmas tree at First Mid-Illinois Bank and Trust. Food collected and gifts from sponsors will be distributed to families in the area before Christmas by members of the Neoga Ministerial Alliance. Children's gifts Anyone who chose the name of a child from one of the bank trees, should be returning wrapped gifts to the bank by the first of next week. Gifts are due at First Mid by Monday, Dec. 7. Heartland Parties Members of Heartland Christian Village's Auxiliary will be hosting Christmas parties for the nursing home residents on Friday, Dec. 11, with refreshments and entertainment.
