Getting to know: Rex McGehee

Rex McGehee was born on May 23, 1935, in Cisne, Illinois. His parents are Art and Rosabel McGehee who are from Fairfield.


Rex went to both grade and high school in Fairfield, IL, graduating from high school in 1954. He graduated from Lincoln Trail College in Robinson in 1971 with an Associate's Degree in Science.


In 1971, he married Rosemary Kirk. Rex has lived in Fairfield, IL, Petersburg, IN, Robinson, IL, Chester, IL, Paxton, IL, and, when in the Army, Seattle, WA, Korea, and New York City.


Rex has sold insurance and been the owner off the Dorsey Kirk Insurance Agency for over 30 years.


What is your favorite dessert? Rhubarb Pie or Coconut Cream Pie

What is your favorite drink? Water, milk, ice tea, diet rite cola


What is your favorite sport? Cardinal baseball and college basketball-Go Illini!


What kind of vehicle would you like to own? A Mercury Grand Marquis


What is your favorite radio station? Anything that plays Oldies.


If you won the lottery, what would you do? You have to buy a ticket to win.


What would you do if you were stuck at home in a snowstorm? I would watch tv.


Who was your favorite grade or high school teacher? My grade and high school history teacher from Fairfield.


Who is your best friend and why? My wife, Rosemary, because she takes care of me.


What is your favorite memory of a great time thus far in life? Getting out of the Army in 1960!


If you could change something about your life, what would you change? Nothing. I have been a lot of places and have seen a lot of things.


If you could change one thing about yourself, what would it be? I have already changed that. I was bashful and shy in high school. After high school, I changed my personality completely.


What do you like to do in your spare time? I like to watch sports and old movies on tv and play cards.


What is the best advice you've ever been given? To put off today what you can do tomorrow! Ha Ha!! Seriously, the best advice I've ever been given is the Golden Rule that the Bible teaches us: Treat everybody the way you want to be treated.
