Getting to know: John Larrabee Share
John Larrabee was born a long time ago in Oblong, Illinois, the son of John and Essie Larrabee. He went to both grade and high school in Oblong, graduating from Oblong High School in 1956. Forty-nine years and eight months ago he married Helen Smith. They have two daughters, Lisa Lockhart and Kathleen Moore. He is a semi-retired oil producer, and has lived in Lima, Ohio and Altamont, Illinois. John says he is rather shy and quiet... What is your favorite dessert? Gooseberry pie.

What is your favorite drink? Coffee and 7-Up. What is your favorite sport? Football What kind of vehicle would you like to own? A 1934 Ford Sedan. What is your favorite radio station? WTYE and WKZI If you won the lottery, what would you do? I would have fun giving the money away. What would you do if you were stuck at home in a snowstorm? I would shovel snow and build a snowman. Who was your favorite grade or high school teacher (and why)? My Algebra teacher, Mr. Victor Brough. He took the time to help me understand. Who is your best friend and why? My wife, Helen. She knows all of my flaws and she still loves me. What is your favorite memory of a great time thus far in life? Marrying my childhood sweetheart and going into business for myself. If you could change something about your life, what would you change? I would be a better Christian, husband, father, and PAPA. If you could change one thing about yourself, what would it be? I would take off about 30 years. And 30 pounds. And be better looking! What do you like to do in your spare time? I like to volunteer at the Oil Museum, read, and watch FOX news. What is the best advice you've ever been given? I was told that it's better to wear out than to rust out!
